Finally. After months of hard work and tons of stuff with sugar in it (my dentist and fitness studio will be happy about that) we recently deployed our new product offering - PAYMILL Unite - as an open beta.
What it is:
PAYMILL Unite is our solution for everyone who runs an online marketplace. It enables merchants trading on a marketplace to offer credit and debit card payment for their customers in the same easy way that our PAYMILL users know and love but, on top of this, it enables the marketplace themselves to automatically collect fees for every transaction which is executed by merchants using PAYMILL on its platform.
How it works:
You as the platform owner and your platform merchants must apply for and activate a PAYMILL account.
To use PAYMILL Unite on your marketplace you have to create an “App” by going to your PAYMILL cockpit > settings > “App” and following the user flow.
You must then ask your merchants to give your PAYMILL account permission to programatically connect with their PAYMILL accounts (this works by using PAYMILL Connect functionality which is an implementation of the OAuth2 protocol).
With these permissions, you can process transactions on the behalf of your merchants and you have everything you need to enable payment for your merchants on your marketplace.
Importantly, you can add some fees for yourself in the API in each API call. These are collected on a weekly basis and transferred to your PAYMILL account.
Why did we do it:
Because you - our customers - asked for it. The marketplace structure also extends far beyond simple marketplaces. Thanks to Connect third party service providers are able to think of cool new applications based on our product.
